Knowledge of foreign languages has become a necessity nowadays. Even if you go on a trip as part of a tour group with an «accompanying» guide. After all, there are situations when you have to communicate with hotel staff, cafe staff, or in transport.
But even if you do not plan to go abroad, knowledge of a foreign language can be useful at home. There is information that can only be obtained in a foreign language, for example, instructions for something, scientific publications, etc. It has become the norm to require knowledge of a foreign language from employees of enterprises with foreign capital.
There are a large number of teaching methods (communicative, audiolingual, linguo-communicative immersion, grammar-translation method, and others). But with any teaching method, one can formulate general principles that will help you learn most effectively. You just need to choose a method that you will not perceive as a burden. Learning should be perceived as entertainment, not work.
Frequent and short sessions are more effective than rare long ones. The most effective are sessions lasting an academic hour (45 minutes). Sessions of less than 30 minutes are not very productive, and with longer sessions the learner gets tired and does not absorb material well. It is better to study 6 days a week for 45 minutes than one day for 4.5 hours.
Sessions should take place in comfortable conditions. You need to study at a comfortable table with good lighting. If the student sits on an uncomfortable chair, clothes restrict movement, and they are either hot or cold, they will not be able to concentrate on learning.
Practice memorizing new words more often. Write down the words you want to remember on special cards. Apply your knowledge in practice more often. Read foreign instructions, signs, newspapers, websites. Watch movies in a foreign language.
