Initially, you must clearly formulate the purpose of your visit. The reasons can be different – for example, a trip as a tourist or simply as a guest to relatives or friends, a business meeting related to business, obtaining an education or getting a job. Such a list can be endless, but you must have a specific purpose for the trip.
The most popular is considered to be a visa to the States of type B1/B2 (business and tourism). When choosing a visa, you need to be extremely careful and accurate in filling it out. If you indicate that you want to visit the country for study purposes (visa F1/M1), but at passport control it turns out that you have a B1/B2 visa, you will be unconditionally sent home.
After you finally decide on the purpose of your trip, you need to choose the date of departure. This is also an important point. If you plan to leave in the coming days, it is unlikely that you will succeed, because you need to sign up for the interview in advance due to the fact that there are many people who want to get to the USA.
The registration process itself also follows certain rules. Initially, you will need to get a PIN code, which gives you the right to ask questions of interest for 8 minutes in the call center and sign up for an interview. Up to five people can be registered with one such code (provided they are relatives). You can get such a code through a branch of ProCredit Bank (with a valid foreign passport), or call the call center and buy it with a credit card. Its price is $12, but payment is made in hryvnia equivalent at the exchange rate.
When you get such a 12-digit code, feel free to call the center and schedule an appointment to submit documents. Prepare all information about yourself in advance:
– first and last name,
– date of birth,
– passport number,
– purpose of trip,
– contact phone numbers,
– if available, email address.
There are times when you cannot come to the interview, then you must inform in advance about rescheduling the visit (at least 3 business days). Before visiting the embassy, you will need to fill out an online form (DS-160). Try to fill everything out especially carefully and competently. You will also need photographs. Before coming to the embassy, you also need to pay the consular fee, which is $140.
Required documents to present at the embassy:
– copies of all pages of the passport;
– confirmation of hotel reservation in the USA;
– flight reservation confirmation;
– visa (tourist, business, etc.);
– registration documents (for entrepreneurs);
– employment certificate;
– proof of financial support;
– documentation of private property;
– marriage certificate, children's birth certificates;
– medical insurance.
After you pass the interview and clearly answer all the questions of interest to the consular officer, there is a high probability that you will receive the coveted visa. Within three days, your passport with the issued visa will be delivered to you, and – welcome to the United States of America!
