The Khaleej Times newspaper reports, citing senior officials of the UAE Ministry of Interior, that the need to tighten requirements for visa applicants is due to the fact that, according to statistics from the last year and a half, 80% of thefts and other offenses were committed by those who entered the country on tourist and guest visas. That is why a certificate of no criminal record and a bank statement are planned to be required from all categories of visa applicants, except for applicants for residence permits, work permits and transit visas.
According to "Russkiye Emiraty", the recommendations of the Federal National Council of the UAE are based on the experience of many countries where the provision of the above documents has long been mandatory for obtaining visas.
