Among European countries, the most beer is drunk in the Czech Republic
As reported by the news agency LIGABusinessInform, each resident of Belarus drinks an average of 17.3 liters per year, with more than 8 liters being strong drinks. The top ten drinking countries also include Lithuania (12.65 l), Czech Republic (12.43 l), Croatia (12.18 l), Austria (12.04 l), Portugal (11.92 l), France (11.8 l), Ireland (11.72 l), Estonia (11.61 l), Hungary (11.51 l).
Ukraine ranked 43rd in the ranking with an alcohol consumption level of 8.49 liters per person per year. Interestingly, consumption of all types of alcohol – from beer to strong spirits – increased over the past year. However, overall Ukrainians show a tendency towards a healthy lifestyle: since 2008, the average Ukrainian has reduced alcohol consumption by 1 liter.
Russia ranks 13th in the report. Each Russian drinks about 11.05 liters of alcohol in alcohol equivalent per year.
Meanwhile, the most beer is drunk in Africa. The leaders in consumption of the frothy beverage are Equatorial Guinea and Namibia. In terms of pure alcohol, each person there drinks 7.47 and 7.3 liters respectively. On the American continent, Venezuelans drink the most beer – 5 liters in terms of alcohol per year. Among Eastern Mediterranean countries, Tunisia holds the lead in beer consumption – 0.58 liters per capita in terms of pure alcohol.
In Europe, the most beer is drunk in the Czech Republic (6.65 liters per capita) and Austria (6.09 liters). The leader among Southeast Asian countries is Thailand (1.54 liters). On the Pacific coast, Australia (4.31 liters) and New Zealand (3.65 liters) hold the lead in beer consumption.
The most wine-drinking countries in the world are Portugal (7.45 liters), France (6.098 liters), and Croatia (5.89 liters).
The leader in consumption of strong alcohol is Belarus (8.18 liters), followed by Guyana (5.71 liters), Haiti (5.65 liters), and Russia (5.52 liters).
