New programs most often appear in the fields of IT and medicine

In 2019, the University of the Bundeswehr in Munich introduced a new master's program "Intelligence and Security Studies" (MISS). This course in the specialty "Intelligence and Security Studies" is primarily designed for senior staff of special services. But there are also more accessible programs in IT at German universities.
Starting in the fall of 2019, the University of Tübingen will become the first university in Germany with a master's program in "Artificial Intelligence." The English-language course is dedicated to machine learning technologies in a wide range of fields, from advertising to medicine. Applications for the winter semester 2019/20 can be submitted until April 30.
In Cologne, students are offered the opportunity to learn the basics of programming over six semesters. The new bachelor's program at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences provides not only technical knowledge but also encourages reflection on the social aspects of the digital economy. The course "Code & Context" combines design, entrepreneurship, and information coding.
In the winter semester 2019/20, the University of Siegen will introduce a new program for engineers. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering will train masters in "International Production Management." The curriculum is tailored to the needs of Industry 4.0. Students will be taught, for example, how to work with Chinese partners, use big data and artificial intelligence. Applications can be submitted starting in April.
Computer security and entrepreneurship are the focus of the new English-language master's program "Entrepreneurial Cybersecurity," launched in October 2018 at Saarland University. Over three semesters, students, together with mentors from academia and business, develop their business ideas for preventing cyber threats. The university helps find sponsors for the best projects. A bachelor's program in cybersecurity has been available here for a long time and is popular.
Healthcare
Starting in September, the University of Trier will open a master's program "Interprofessionelle Gesundheitsversorgung." This is an interdisciplinary program covering areas such as medicine, outpatient treatment, and care. A similar program has existed at Heidelberg University since 2011. This course is aimed at applicants interested in gaining interdisciplinary knowledge in the field of healthcare.
Germany remains the last country in the European Union where one does not need a higher education to become a midwife. By 2020, the deadline set by an EU directive requiring all member states to make this profession academic will expire. Currently, 17 programs have been established across the country, but most of them are in Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia. It should be noted that this is a general trend observed in the educational services market, and it primarily concerns universities: new programs are appearing in specialties that previously did not require a higher education.
