Under the new rules, the total value of goods that individuals can bring duty-free for personal use or as gifts has been increased – from €175 to €430 for individuals arriving in the EU by air or sea, and to €300 for individuals arriving in the EU by land or inland waterway.
The new rules also provide for the removal of restrictions on the transport of perfumes, eau de toilette, coffee and tea (within the established maximum amount for goods), an increase in the duty-free wine allowance from 2 to 4 liters, and the introduction of a restriction on beer imports to 16 liters.
In addition, UNIAN reports that the new rules allow EU member states to reduce the maximum allowable number of cigarettes allowed for import from 200 to 40.
