The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) proposes changes to the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). This is planned to improve oversight of international programs and increase educational opportunities for family students and their children.

The amendments will allow educational institutions to independently determine the number of officials responsible for international programs on campus and assisting foreign students in obtaining visas. Previously, educational institutions had a limit of no more than 10 officials.

In addition, the proposed changes will allow family members of foreign students with F-1 or M-1 nonimmigrant visas to study at SEVP-certified institutions, provided that the study is not full-time.

Online course for those wishing to study in America

The University of Pennsylvania is launching an online course (MOOC) that will help potential foreign students better understand the admission requirements and application process for US universities.

The four-week course Applying to US Universities is designed for foreign students planning to apply to undergraduate programs. It provides practical information on application document requirements and offers advice from admissions committee members on the criteria they use to select candidates.
