SAS introduces biometric boarding
SAS is introducing a new passenger recognition system on domestic flights in Sweden. During check-in, passengers provide a fingerprint, which is then compared with the fingerprint provided when boarding the aircraft.
The new biometric system is intended to replace traditional passenger identification by identity card, but is not mandatory: travelers who do not wish to provide fingerprints can board the plane the old way by presenting documents. After the flight, all fingerprints are automatically deleted from the system. As SAS representatives assure, the use of biometrics, recommended by the EU, speeds up the check-in process. Budget airlines introduce fee for boarding first
The largest European budget airlines easyJet and Ryanair have introduced the option of priority boarding for an additional fee. As is known, on budget airlines' planes, seats are not assigned, and everyone sits wherever they like. Thus, those who board first get to choose the best seats.
The first to initiate was easyJet, whose fee for priority boarding ranges from €3.75 to 11.25 depending on the flight. Ryanair immediately responded with its own offer and, as usual, tried to make it cheaper. Ryanair's priority boarding costs €3, and up to 60 passengers on each flight can use it. //Travel.ru
