Airfare prices have risen again in the US
All major US airlines have raised prices on domestic routes. The increase in fares reaches $10 per one-way ticket.
The latest increase was initiated by budget carrier Southwest Airlines, caused by high fuel prices. Southwest's fares rose from $2 for short flights to $10 for tickets purchased at the last moment. Thus, the company exceeded the maximum ticket price of $299, which it had itself set in 2002. The price increase was immediately supported by other airlines - Continental Airlines, Northwest Airlines, US Airways, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, United Airlines, Alaska Airlines and others.
Lufthansa will continue to cut fares on short-haul flights
German airline Lufthansa intends to continue reducing prices on intra-European flights. Earlier, the company introduced low fares (from €99 round trip) for short-haul flights from Hamburg and Düsseldorf airports. This led to a 40% increase in passengers in Hamburg and 15% in Düsseldorf. The company now plans to extend this practice to flights from Stuttgart and other German cities. The price reduction is driven by fierce competition from budget airlines.

American Eagle has abandoned its intention to charge for drinks and juices on its flights. During the experiment, the company charged passengers $1 per glass of drink.
The experiment, conducted by the airline over the past month, showed that passengers do not consider themselves obliged to pay for juices and mineral water. Also deemed unsuccessful was the idea of selling bags of nuts at the same price and a pillow pack for $5 that passengers could take with them.
Flights between Oxbridge lasted five weeks
Sky Commuter, which launched flights in February between the English university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, was forced to cease operations due to a lack of passengers.
According to the airline, the number of passengers turned out to be lower than preliminary marketing research had indicated. There were not enough even to fill the eight-seat aircraft. Passengers preferred a two-hour journey on the ground to a 22-minute flight. The airline promised to refund money to those who had unused Sky Commuter tickets.
