Lviv is the city of the Lion
You can get to Lviv from almost any city of the former Soviet Union. After all, Lviv, the largest city in Europe with a population of 800 thousand people, is also a major railway hub.
If you can't afford expensive hotels, you can stay in an inexpensive hostel. Fortunately, there are many of them in Lviv, and prices start from $15 per day and suit any budget. The first thing you should visit upon arriving in the city is the Church of St. Elizabeth, built in the French Gothic style. It is located near the railway station, and a walk to it will take 10-15 minutes. From here, you will have a magnificent view of the old city, and in the distance you can see the Cathedral of St. George, the main Greek Catholic cathedral of Ukraine.

Here, in the historic center, literally every building breathes antiquity and makes you think about how many generations of people have crossed their thresholds. We strongly recommend visiting the Lviv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. One of the most beautiful theaters in the countries of the former Soviet Union, its interior is very similar to the famous Italian Teatro La Scala.
Besides the theater, it will be interesting to visit the unique restaurant "Kryivka," where a man with a machine gun stands at the entrance and asks for the password: "Glory to Ukraine!" (your answer should be: "Glory to the heroes!"). This restaurant is unique because it is designed as an underground cell of the Ukrainian liberation movement. The walls of the restaurant are polished brickwork, the furniture is made of old wood, and old photographs and weapons hang everywhere.
After lunch at "Kryivka," be sure to go for dessert to Serbian Street, building 3. Here is the oldest chocolate workshop, where a large selection of various desserts will attract you. And under the roof of a small cafe, you can have a cup of hot chocolate.
A very interesting place in the city is the Lviv Coffee Mine, where they will not only give you a flashlight and a hard hat but also show you the "coffee" mines where Lviv coffee is supposedly mined. And in the shop on the first floor, you can buy the famous "Kavivka" (a vodka infused with coffee beans). Also sold here are ground coffee and coffee beans – a wonderful gift for your family and friends.
Near the mine is a pharmacy museum, where for a low ticket price you can see pharmaceutical supplies and preparations of the 19th century. And after the sightseeing program, we recommend just walking around the old quarters of this amazing city, taking a tram ride and chatting with people – they are very friendly and welcoming here.
