Great Britain is one of the most popular countries among migrant workers
One of the most popular countries where people from our country go to work is Great Britain. Here salaries are decent, and you can try yourself in any field, be it moving furniture or working as a waiter. How realistic are the chances of making money in this country?
First of all, it should be remembered that now in England there is the same economic crisis as in the whole world, many companies are planning an office relocation to remote areas in order to make ends meet. Therefore, a considerable number of unemployed have appeared on the local market, both natives and visitors from other European countries, as well as Asia and even Africa. Due to high competition, many agree to wash floors in bars for pennies or work 20 hours a day in an office for a pittance. Despite all this, there is always a chance to find work. It is easiest to do this if you only need seasonal employment – for example, in summer or autumn.
Of course, it is better to go to England if you have relatives or friends there, i.e., people ready to shelter you. They can also recommend some work, for example, offering the British cheap house moving or cleaning their homes. If you have no acquaintances, you will have to spend additional time and money on housing.
Prepare for competition. There are many people from Latvia, Poland, Lithuania and other countries, so you will need nerves of steel while you look for a suitable option. It is best to travel with some money – it is necessary for the period while you are looking for a job.
If you stay in a large city, it is easiest to find work in the hotel business, in a bar or cafe, or on a construction site. In less populated areas, you can try your hand as a factory worker or work in the fields.
Do not forget that the main problem of modern seekers of big money is ignorance of the English language. Few employers will want to communicate with you using gestures, so it is better to learn the language well before the trip. Do not hope that, for example, at a factory you will quickly catch up – here may work the same migrant workers as you, who know Lithuanian, Russian or Polish much better than English.
