"Let this person not be afraid at the sight of the district police officer. He lives in Ukraine anyway, we will not deport him anywhere - he has a family, a home, and a job here. Let him come forward, we will legalize him, and let him live," said Gennady Moskal.
Within the framework of the migration amnesty, the head of the State Committee for Nationalities and Migration also proposed providing assistance to foreigners in obtaining Ukrainian citizenship. According to Gennady Moskal, there is a certain prejudice in Ukraine on this issue. At the same time, many European countries have long been augmenting their potential through migrants.
Recently, far more people leave Ukraine than enter it. This is due, in particular, to the fact that migration processes between the former republics of the USSR have practically ended. In this regard, Gennady Moskal expressed hope that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will adopt a program for the return of Ukrainians to their homeland from abroad. However, many Ukrainians will be ready to return only if they retain the citizenship of the country in which they reside.
Therefore, an opinion was also expressed in favor of introducing amendments to the Constitution that would provide for the possibility of dual citizenship. "I think that our legislators need to take this into account in the amendments to the Constitution and leave people their citizenship. There are only a few countries left in the world that do not recognize dual citizenship, including Ukraine," he emphasized, adding that in this way many people will be able to return to their historical homeland.
