This happens in the business called "human trafficking": guides receive money from illegals who have managed to reach Ukraine's western border and abandon them at the border, while the unfortunate wander until picked up by border guards. And the guide, having counted the profits, waits for the next victims to be sent by other participants in the criminal chain. And the endless circle continues...
However, Ukrainian law enforcement officers also tell stories they call "laughter through tears": in Chernihiv, a dozen illegals were arrested who, with a German dictionary in hand, stormed the local visa and registration office hoping to obtain refugee status in... Germany! The illegals, poorly acquainted with geography, were abandoned by guides in the middle of Chernihiv after being transported across the Russian-Ukrainian border and receiving the appropriate payment, told that it was Germany... And recently, Kyiv police, conducting a check in one apartment, found a large group of Chinese illegals. As reported by the Public Relations Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv, 57 men and 13 women were simultaneously in a three-room apartment in a building on Urytskoho Street. The apartment owner was in Russia at the time. Law enforcement officers found a lease agreement for the apartment with a Chinese citizen, a student at one of Kyiv's universities, but the document had no marks or seals from state agencies regarding the rental.
As the police established, the illegals arrived in Kyiv from Beijing via Moscow. They came at night in "batches" of 10-15 people. Each Chinese paid between $7,000 and $10,000 for the trip. The illegals hoped to live in Kyiv, find work, and after earning some money, some wanted to go further west, while others hoped to settle in Ukraine.
There are countless similar cases. Sometimes one hears that entire high-rise buildings in residential areas of Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa are populated by Chinese, Indians, Afghans. Local authorities avoid such topics, as there is nothing illegal about it. Indeed, in European Union states and the United States, there are "ethnic neighborhoods," and that's fine. However, one would like to believe that the crime situation in Latin quarters or former "black ghettos" will remain in action movie frames.
Let me remind you that over the past ten years, Ukrainian border guards and law enforcement officers have detained 87,000 illegals at the border, according to the State Border Committee of Ukraine. The vast majority of illegals intended to settle in European Union states.
