Spain is ready to offer real estate for every taste and budget
In percentage terms, roughly one-fifth of real estate (20%) that Russians buy abroad is located in Spain. Apartments in Barcelona and other inland cities are practically not popular among our compatriots. Such transactions are isolated and caused by exceptional circumstances. For example, apartments in Madrid are bought if children are sent to receive higher education in the Spanish capital.
At one time, buying apartments in Barcelona and other inland cities for subsequent rental had certain popularity. But now it is not relevant. Due to the economic crisis, many foreign citizens who previously worked in Spain have left the country. Rental real estate in Spain has fallen in price even more than the prices of housing for sale, as the market is now oversaturated with such offers.
However, for some this may be a plus. Renting real estate on the coast in Spain has also become cheaper, which is sure to please those Russians who cannot afford to buy real estate in this country at the moment.
The majority of Spanish real estate purchases by Russians are in settlements on the Mediterranean coast. Everyone has heard the names of such famous Spanish resorts as Costa del Sol and Costa Dorada. But in reality, these are quite large regions, so in online catalogs of Spanish real estate for these regions, there will be many offers with the names of various small cities, towns, and villages that you have never heard of.
Always check the geographical location of the properties that interest you (on a map), as well as the level of development of nearby transport and everyday infrastructure (pharmacies, shops), so that you do not later face difficulties and regret the purchase.
As for the price level, a house in Spain on the coast will be at least comparable in price to a similar house in cottage villages near Moscow, and will likely be noticeably cheaper.
