The simplification promised by 1 May in the procedure for purchasing real estate for non-EU citizens (purchase by an individual rather than a legal entity) has not yet been approved. Deputies are considering the relevant bill in the second reading, which will be followed by a third. Then senators will discuss it, and only after that will the president be acquainted with its final version.
"People will be able to be property owners, but this will in no way solve their issue of staying here," said Pavel Mejtušim, director of the Bonguard real estate agency, in an interview with Radio Prague. "So it will only be great for those who buy property here as a 'dacha', for temporary visits, or for those who buy property for commercial purposes. For those who are planning a full relocation to the Czech Republic, by and large, nothing will change. They will still have to register a company, deal with visas. But it is still better than now. Because a certain return to logic is always pleasant."
As the expert noted, a foreigner who wants to buy an income-generating house and receive income from renting out apartments and non-residential premises does not necessarily have to be on the territory of the Czech Republic. For this, it is enough to hire a manager.
