German prostitutes have been put on the meter
In January of this year, the city authorities of Bonn already introduced a tax on sexual services for brothels, saunas, and erotic centers. The municipality expects that this will bring 300,000 euros annually to the city budget. Now, prostitutes working on the streets will also be subject to taxation.
Each individual woman engaging in this trade will be required, between 8:15 PM and 6:00 AM, to purchase a ticket costing six euros from specially installed machines similar to parking meters.
As explained, this procedure is introduced not only to replenish the city treasury but also to provide assistance to unfortunate girls, many of whom, due to lack of knowledge of the German language, are unable to fill out a tax declaration on their own.
According to the city authorities, the introduction of "tax machines" should help solve this problem. Prostitutes without a night ticket will face a warning first, and then a ban on working in that location.
The innovation has already caused discontent among Bonn's workers of the horizontal profession: each of them will have to pay six euros per night, regardless of the number of clients. The most socially conscious "priestesses of love" have already stated that the tariff should be differentiated. However, none of them specify what kind, and more importantly, where the corresponding meter should be installed.
