Exhibition 'From Monet to Picasso', September 14 - April 6, Vienna. The collection of the Vienna museum 'Albertina' will be enriched with new masterpieces. Collectors from Liechtenstein, Rita and Herbert Batliner, decided to transfer their collection of contemporary art to the museum (for 10 years with the right to exhibit). Now about 500 works by artists such as Monet, Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Chagall, Modigliani, Bacon, Kandinsky can be seen by visitors to the Albertina in special exhibitions. Exhibition 'Rubens: Genius at Work', September 14 - January 27, Brussels. The Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels has prepared a scientific-artistic exhibition dedicated to new discoveries in the study of artists' work in Rubens' workshop in Antwerp. In 1615, Rubens became the leader of the Antwerp school of painting. This success, associated with an ever-increasing flow of commissions, led to the creation of a workshop where painters, including very famous authors (Van Dyck, Jordaens, Snyders), had to reproduce Rubens' scheme of rapid painting as accurately as possible. How exactly these 'streams' of paintings were created in the workshop, to what extent Rubens himself controlled the work of assistants – these are the questions proposed for study at the exhibition. Works from Rubens' workshop can be compared with the artist's 'original' paintings. Annual Open House event, September 15-16. Design Festival, September 15-25, London. More than 600 London houses – public and private – will be open for free access in mid-September as part of the 'Open House' event. The London Design Festival is a fairly young event, but it has already become one of the main events in the city's life. Exhibition 'The Twentieth Century', until April 1, Liverpool. In early September, the main exhibition of the Tate museum will open in Liverpool. It will be dedicated to 'two subjects' in 20th century art history - figurative and abstract. The exhibition will occupy three floors and feature more than 200 masterpieces of painting, graphics, and sculpture. Visitors will be able to see 'The Kiss' by Auguste Rodin, 'Weeping Woman' by Pablo Picasso, 'Composition in Red, Yellow and Blue' by Piet Mondrian. Exhibition 'Max Beckmann: Flight to Amsterdam', September 14 - January 6, Munich. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam together with the Pinakothek der Moderne have prepared an exhibition dedicated to the work of Max Beckmann during one of the most difficult periods of his life - the period of forced emigration. Beckmann had to leave for Amsterdam after first being suspended from teaching at the Art School in Frankfurt am Main, and then his painting was declared 'an example of degenerate art'. In 1936, on Hitler's orders, a commission began its work, confiscating 'examples of degenerate art' from German museums, and a year later the confiscated paintings were shown at the exhibition 'Degenerate Art'. From 1937 to 1947, the artist created complex compositions populated with mythological characters, animals, nude bodies, and inanimate objects. They resemble a universe – cruel, cold, obeying the laws of dreams. Often these works are called 'watched-to-the-end dreams'. //www.pinakothek.de

Exhibition 'The Other Side', until October 16, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The Museum of Contemporary Art (CAAM) on the island of Gran Canaria is hosting an exhibition of contemporary video and video installations that explores 'images of the dark side' in the broad sense of the word. Three contemporary artists, studying the dark side of consciousness and the dark part of the day, immerse visitors in a mystical and captivating world of the invisible, the 'closed'. The changing perception of visual and sound images of the 'other side' entails the destruction of the usual sense of time. Exhibition 'Titian's Late Painting', September 15 - January 6, Belluno. In the small town of Belluno (Veneto region), an exhibition dedicated to the last period of Titian's work will open in mid-September. From the mid-1550s, Titian abandons naturalism and the classical ideal. His late style is characterized by generalization and incompleteness, rejection of precise drawing and plastic forms, so it seems that his characters belong to an unreal world. This 'magical impressionism', as Italian art critic Rodolfo Pallucchini defined this style, is also characteristic of Titian's late portraits. Exhibition 'Landscape in Contemporary Art', September 23 - November 4, Helsinki. The landscape genre in contemporary art is quite unpopular. It is all the more interesting to trace the way out of this impasse using the example of works by contemporary artists recently acquired by the Kiasma Museum. 'New artists do not so much continue the tradition of classical and even abstract landscape as they destroy it, but very talentedly – they open new paths for the genre,' says the curator of this exhibition. Exhibition of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, September 15 - January 13, Paris. The Musée du Luxembourg in Paris is opening a truly unique monographic exhibition of one of the most mysterious and curious artists in the world – Giuseppe Arcimboldo, completely forgotten as early as the 18th century and rediscovered by the Surrealists. Arcimboldo specialized in pictorial whims, composing human portraits ('Portrait of Rudolf II') and allegorical figures ('Winter', 'Fire', 'The Jurist', 'The Librarian') from a variety of objects – flowers, fruits, vegetables, shells, animals, books, etc. His work embodies a strange, almost morbid Mannerism that amazes the modern viewer with its boldness, inventiveness and avant-garde nature.
