Love Parade to Be Replaced by Love Week

On July 10, the grand club culture festival Love Parade was to take place in Berlin. However, according to Gazeta.Ru, due to financing problems this event was cancelled after lengthy discussions. Nevertheless, Berlin clubs, mass media and other interested parties, on their own initiative, decided to hold an alternative celebration of club culture in the German capital - Love Week.

This "week of love" will last 10 days - from July 3 to July 12. About 100 parties united into a club festival will take place in more than 40 Berlin clubs. The most significant event will be the Lovestern Galaktika party in the aviation hangar of Tempelhof Airport, next to which the Electric Kingdom party with DJ Westbam will be held. In the Kulturbrauerei club, 70 DJs will arrange a party called Love Base. Such counterculture luminaries as C21 and Shitparade will perform at the Bastard and Maria am Ufer clubs.

In addition, a number of open-air events will take place as part of Love Week. And the radio station Fritz Loveradio is organizing Love Weekend, during which it will broadcast the best DJ tracks from around the world around the clock on its frequencies.

"After the scandalous cancellation of Love Parade, Love Week should demonstrate that Berlin clubs are capable of worthily presenting the music scene of the German capital," said Olaf Kretschmar, press secretary of the newly created Club Commission. "We, the forum of clubs and artists, together with the organizers of Love Parade, will try to arrange a first-class show. We invite clubgoers from around the world to join this grand performance. We have 10 unforgettable days ahead of us."
