"This is twice the level of immigration to New York," the newspaper notes. The share of immigrants currently stands at 28 people per 1,000 residents in London, compared with 12 in New York and 26 in Los Angeles.
The high influx of new residents stimulates the growth of property prices and forces many Londoners to move to other places. Internal migration from London over the same period increased from 50,000 to 100,000 people per year. At the same time, the share of native white population in the capital of the United Kingdom continues to steadily decline. Currently it is only about 60%, and in six London districts, white people are actually in the minority.
Meanwhile, the report's findings show that the influx of foreigners into the British capital only contributes to economic growth and does not cause serious clashes on racial, religious or national grounds. "London is becoming more foreign, more ethnically diverse, more economically polarized, rapidly multiplying and young," reports DELFI.
