For just one euro you can buy a house in Italy with a view of Etna
The mayor of the village of Gangi in Sicily was so desperate to preserve this picturesque settlement that he is not only selling 100 houses at a price of 1 euro each, but also giving some houses away for free. The buildings are two-story stone structures built in the 19th century. Each has an area of about 93 square meters.
Gangi is a pretty little village with a view of Mount Etna. It is one of two places on the planet where, according to rumor, the Holy Spirit descended to Earth. However, as Rosbalt reports, since the beginning of the 20th century, over 9,000 people have migrated from here to Argentina, and the place began to decline.
Those who prefer fresh mountain air will surely be interested in the village of Carega Ligure in Piedmont, reports the Prian portal. Dating back to the 11th century, the houses here are located at an altitude of about 1,600 meters in 11 mountain areas, as well as in five valleys. Since the 1970s, local residents began to leave the village, tired of cold winters and harsh living conditions. However, mayor Guido Gozzano assures that this settlement has its undeniable advantages – tranquility, breathtaking views, and no air pollution.
The village of Lecce nei Marsi in Abruzzo is famous for being located in the Abruzzo Nature Park with 600-year-old trees, which may soon become a UNESCO protected site. Each house put up for sale here has its own small garden.
