The ancient Necropolis is one of the most visited places in the city
Over the past five years, tours to Turkey have become very popular and in demand. The city of Side is a commercial port and resort center, encompassing several tourist villages. When viewed from a bird's-eye perspective, one can see that the city resembles half a pomegranate. This is exactly how its name translates into Russian.
Side has a Mediterranean subtropical climate, bringing heat in summer and rain in winter. Unfortunately, these structures have only partially survived – the foundations of the temples and the surrounding columns have been preserved to this day. But even these ruins evoke awe in tourists and a sense of involvement in ancient history.
Also in Side is an ancient market square, in the center of which traces of a ritual altar in honor of the goddess Fortuna can be seen. While walking around the city, you will certainly come across an ancient fountain, in the niches of which stone sculptures of Emperor Vespasian are hidden. A luxurious structure even by modern standards.
One of the frequently visited places in the city is the ancient Necropolis, on whose territory there are tombs and sarcophagi, half-destroyed temples, and a unique memorial tomb representing a waterfall where river water flows into the sea.
The city is connected by an ancient bridge – the Aqueduct. The bridge is a tunnel spanning the river with numerous vaults and arches. The bridge is not just an architectural monument; it still fulfills its functions, allowing the local population to move freely around the city.
Once, Cleopatra and Antony met in Side, so the city has become a popular vacation spot for lovers. Here you can often hear declarations of love and see newlyweds spending their honeymoon.
