Pamukkale in Turkey - the eighth wonder of the world
From a political point of view, Turkey is a republic that was proclaimed by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in 1923 and has since strived to become on par with modern, developed European states. Both industry and agriculture are well developed in Turkey, but the leading sector of the country is tourism.
From a geographical point of view, Turkey is a state located at the junction of two continents – Europe and Asia – and covers an area of 781 thousand square kilometers. It is washed by four seas: the Black, Aegean, Marmara, and Mediterranean. Most of the country is mountainous. The population consists of 69 million people, the majority of whom profess Islam.
From a historical point of view, Turkey is a unique state that has been marked by many civilizations – the ancient Greeks, Romans, Hittites, Phrygians, Urartians, Lycians, Ottomans, Seljuks, and others. Turkey is among the leading countries in terms of the number of historical monuments located on its territory.
From a natural point of view, Turkey is a country with a large area of untouched nature. The flora and fauna of Turkey are unique. Azure seas, purest beaches, mountain peaks covered with pine and eucalyptus groves, beautiful mountain rivers and waterfalls with crystal clear water – all this is Turkey. In addition, it is on the territory of Turkey that the unique natural monument Pamukkale is located.
