Carpathians – a Resort Region!

Carpathians – a Resort Region!

The Mukachevo Castle "Palanok" is included in the excursion tour of Transcarpathia.

Thanks to its geographical location, Transcarpathia has optimal climatic conditions for active recreation throughout the year. Such therapeutic factors as thermal springs and balneological resorts, natural salt mines and lakes, in combination can significantly strengthen health and are beneficial to people of any age.

A holiday in Transcarpathia in summer is especially interesting. Since the Carpathians protect the region from the influence of cyclones, summer begins as early as early May and can last until mid-October. The moderate subtropical climate maintains high humidity and prevents the air from warming above 35 degrees. Air warms up to 40 degrees Celsius only in the flat areas in the southwest of Transcarpathia.

Significant elevation differences make the nature of Transcarpathia very diverse. While in the highlands, completely devoid of forests, the slopes are covered only with alpine meadows, in the middle zone one can plunge into the depths of relic oak forests and pine groves, rich in such gifts as royal porcini mushrooms, blueberries, blackberries. Even lower, mixed forests and lowland glades combined with the purest mountain air fill the lungs with indescribable aromas of flowers, fresh herbs and fruit orchards.

Summer holidays in Transcarpathia can be spent combining therapeutic procedures based on mineral waters and exciting excursions to the historical and architectural centers of the region. Particularly convenient in this regard is the resort of Polyana, which is located in a picturesque area not far from the town of Svalyava. The well-developed tourist infrastructure and abundance of sanatoriums, boarding houses and recreation centers have long attracted vacationers here.

In Polyana you can stay in fashionable apartments, the daily cost of which is in the four-digit figures in dollars, but the bulk of recreational places are in the middle price category, not exceeding 50 dollars per room, depending on the number of beds and services provided. There are also offers for those who are looking for affordable recreation in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia cheaply. Most such offers are represented by the private sector, where the level of service is also high and there is everything necessary for a full-fledged holiday.

Car tourism and recreation in the Carpathians have been popular for a long time. In almost all interesting corners of Transcarpathia you can stay in small and cozy motels, tourist bases. Such a holiday is extremely convenient because it does not tie you to a specific place – every day you can move to a city of interest or make trips from a certain hotel.

The last option is good for vacationers with small children. In this regard, the resort of Polyana is extremely convenient – the most significant places to visit are within 70 km. For example, excursions in Transcarpathia and a trip to Uzhhorod can be done with the whole family, while a hiking trip to the mountains, tiring for a child, can be planned only for adults.

Main recommendations for an excursion trip to Uzhhorod:

– Uzhhorod Castle and the Museum of Architecture and Life of Transcarpathia, located nearby;

– the historical center of Uzhhorod does not need extra advertising. To understand this, it is enough to just stroll along the ancient streets, visit the theater square, have lunch in one of the restaurants with national cuisine, drink coffee or try pizza at the cafe "Astika" and this place will forever settle in your heart;

– The Cathedral Roman Catholic Church – a unique architectural and religious structure, located on the way to Uzhhorod Castle.

Nearby, in the village of Nevitske, is located Nevitsky Castle. From Uzhhorod by car about 15 minutes drive.

It is convenient to combine a trip to the castle "Palanok" with bathing in the thermal springs of the city of Berehovo. The fact is that Mukachevo, like "Palanok" itself, are located on the route to the thermal waters. From Polyana to the thermal waters – about 50 kilometers or about an hour by car. Bathing itself is not recommended for more than 45 minutes, and on the way back you can explore the castle "Palanok" and the historical center of Mukachevo.

Winter recreation in Transcarpathia is skiing and sledding. Ski slopes are available in large numbers in all corners of the region. The most significant among them are Krasiya, Pylypets and Podobovets, Zhdenievo and Dragobrat. For amateurs and those who are just learning to ski, the ski slopes and lifts in Polyana are most suitable. The length of ski trails here does not exceed one kilometer, and the slopes themselves are quite gentle and safe even for beginners.

If you are planning a holiday in the Carpathians or Transcarpathia, come to Polyana – and you will forever love this place!
