According to the staff of the Czech university, the current name does not correspond to reality, as several faculties are located outside Prague – in the cities of Pilsen and Hradec Králové. The institution will have to order new seals, change its coat of arms, and print new forms.
As ILoveCZ.ru notes, the name change will not happen immediately. Deputies first plan to review the article of the law that allows higher education institutions in the country to change their names.
However, despite the legal obstacle, three years ago another Czech university – Masaryk University – removed 'in Brno' from its name, returning to a historically more accurate phrase.
