Along with advertisements in newspapers and on websites, you can often see job offers, for example, in Montenegro. Today, despite the crisis, demand for labor in Montenegro exceeds supply. This further spurs the interest of job seekers in finding work in this country. However, to go to work in Montenegro, you need to know: first, how and where to find information about vacancies; second, what procedures you need to go through and what documents are necessary for legal employment.
The answer to the first question is simple. What do you do if, for example, you need to find information on the topic of banner stands? That's right – you search for it on the Internet. The same approach works when searching for job vacancies. You can also find a job in Montenegro by using the services of the Employment Bureau or intermediary agencies.
Now let's try to answer the second question. For a foreign citizen to have the right to work in Montenegro, he needs to obtain a police permit to stay in the country, a work permit, and sign an employment contract with registration in the Pension Fund, Health Insurance Fund, and Social Insurance Fund. The 'Law on Employment of Foreign Citizens', which came into force on January 1, 2009, provides for three types of work permits:
1. Personal work permit (Licna radna dozvola) – issued for an indefinite period to a foreign citizen who has obtained permanent residence.
2. Employment permit for up to one year (Dozvola za zaposljavanje), on the basis of which the employer concludes a contract with a foreign citizen.
3. Seasonal work permit (Dozvola za rad) – work on assignment, training courses for foreigners, and contract work.
The first step of legal employment is the verification of the diploma. To do this, you need to contact the Ministry of Education of Montenegro and provide a number of documents: an application, the original certificate or diploma, a certified translation thereof, the diploma supplement, and proof of payment of the administrative fee. For employment, persons with higher education (doctors, engineers, teachers, lawyers) also need a license.
