Golf is not only an interesting but also a beautiful sport
Golf is a sport played on open, extensive, and grassy surfaces. It consists of hitting a ball into a small hole in the ground using special clubs. The goal of the game is to put the ball into the hole with the fewest number of strokes – the faster the ball goes into the hole, the better.
True golf enthusiasts constantly experiment with choosing courses to play golf. That is why golf tours, which allow traveling around the world to find the most interesting place to play, have become so popular recently. And if suddenly you are invited to go on such a wonderful tour for the first time, it is time to discuss the attire and equipment that a real golfer needs.
What to Wear?
Golf is considered an elite sport. The main principle when choosing clothing is that it should be neat and comfortable. A typical player's outfit consists of a shirt, pants, shoes, a hat, and gloves.
Collar and Covered Legs
The shirt should have a collar (most often polo shirts are found). The only exception to this rule is women's attire, where sleeveless tops are allowed. Sleeve length is not important. In cold weather, sweatshirts and vests are acceptable.
In golf, you should not expose your legs too much – even on very hot days. Long pants are a good choice. Shorts should reach the knees, and such an outfit should be complemented with long socks. Women may wear a skirt, but not too short. Both skirts and shorts should reach the knee. Very short and denim clothing are completely out of place.
Important Accessories
When it comes to shoes, typical golf shoes are best. These are elegant half-boots but equipped with special spikes that prevent slipping on the grass and help maintain a stable stance to hit the ball. If such shoes are not available, another type can be chosen, but it should have a flat sole.
Every golfer wears a hat. Berets and straw hats are acceptable. Gloves, or rather a glove, are an addition to your golfer image. A left-handed player wears a right glove, and a right-handed player wears a left glove. It should fit snugly on the palm. Most often, gloves are made of thin leather or its imitation.
Flight and Distance Control
In addition to professional clothing, every player needs balls and a club. The ball must have a diameter no smaller than about 43 mm. Its weight should not exceed approximately 46 grams. Most often, golf balls are made of rubber, resin, plastic, surlyn, and balata. There are three types of golf balls:
1) One-piece – the cheapest but also the most durable. Its disadvantage is low flight control.
2) Two-piece ball – very light and, because of this, travels farther. The player has more flight control over this type of ball.
3) Three-piece ball – suitable for players for whom flight control is more important than distance.
The golf club is the most important piece of equipment. Each player can take up to 14 clubs in their bag (a special bag with compartments) onto the golf course. A more significant division is grouping clubs. There are six types of clubs:
1) Woods – for long shots on the fairway and starting holes.
2) Hybrids – for long play on the fairway.
3) Irons – for play on the fairway and starting short holes.
4) Wedges – for short play near the hole, hitting balls from difficult places, and avoiding obstacles.
5) Chipper – for playing directly at the hole.
6) Putter – for playing on the green.
Attention should also be paid to the design of the club head, because it helps create the appropriate flight trajectory. The club head consists of the following parts: the face, the toe, the heel, and the sole.
Having dressed and equipped accordingly, you can head to the golf course and begin your adventure with this sport.
