But maybe go somewhere in Europe? Since my soul craves the sea, I am considering Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece. There is plenty to choose from, but one thing is bad – it’s too expensive. And then I remember how a colleague told me about his vacation in Croatia last year – not expensive and European-style. I decided to read a little about this country. It turns out that many territories of this state once belonged to the Roman Empire, and now there are many monuments and interesting places left from those times. So there is something to see!
Croatia is home to many nationalities, and tourists bring significant income to its residents, so the attitude towards visitors (including from Russia) is positive. In general, residents of many European countries go there on vacation because it is cheaper, and the service level is in no way inferior to more famous European resorts. They mostly come there in their own cars, which is not quite acceptable for our people. An important positive point for us is the free visa-free entry to Croatia from April 1, 2012 to October 31.
I remembered how last year, while vacationing in Egypt in the summer, from 12 noon to 5 pm it was impossible to go outside, there was nothing to breathe, and my nose instantly burned and peeled – real hell. In Croatia, the climate is much milder and more comfortable, and the sea is just as pleasant!
So, I decided on the country. It remains to find a place to stay. The same colleague told me about apartments in Croatia – enterprising locals rent out rooms and apartments to tourists. Prices there are several times lower than in hotels, and I thought that this option is just right for me, because I usually only come to the hotel to sleep. With a huge number of various cafes, mostly with Italian cuisine – it’s a sin to eat in the hotel!
By the way, experienced tourists advise when choosing apartments to also pay attention to what beach is near your temporary home, as they can differ significantly in comfort level.
And another plus of traveling to Croatia is that there will definitely be no language barrier – many people here speak the "great and mighty". But, for example, in the same Spain it can be very difficult to communicate.
