The main thing is to first decide whether you are a nudist or a naturist. What is the difference, you ask? From the outside it all looks the same, but in fact, as seasoned naturists like to argue vehemently, there is a huge difference between these two concepts. Nudists (from the Latin nudus - "naked") are simply citizens who like to sunbathe naked, while naturists (from the English word nature - "nature") profess a philosophy of unity with nature, join special clubs and even in everyday life try to wear clothes as rarely as possible. They will never accept into their ranks people who simply like to "look at naked women": naturists (well, at least according to their manifestos) view the human body as a normal, natural essence in which there is nothing indecent. Therefore, they do not even think about sex surrounded by naked bodies. And if you feel strong enough to endure several hours in the company of a dozen naked women and men, join in.
The easiest way to get acquainted with the "naked truth" is on a nudist beach in your hometown, and they exist almost everywhere. In Moscow, this is Serebryany Bor and the shore of the Istra Reservoir; in Kiev, the Obolon beach; in Odessa, the Tikhiy beach; the nudist list also includes Alushta, Ordzhonikidze and Gelendzhik. But can you really spread out here? Locals point fingers and look at you as if you are abnormal, and the police are eager to throw you in the clink for violating public order. Therefore, to experience all the delights of democracy and tolerance, naturists go abroad.
Greece
Until recently, one of the most secluded resorts for naked people was in Greece on the island of Crete. On its southern side, near the former fishing village of Plakias, 120 km from Heraklion Airport, on a rocky cliff, stands the Calypso hotel - a quiet place favored by young couples, where you can feel the calm and unhurried rhythm of Greek life, conducive to reflection and meditation. Quite recently, you could "feel" without clothes. But unfortunately, two years ago, Calypso ceased to be a nudist hotel.
However, nudists still have a chance to have a great rest in Greece. For several years now, the nudist hotel "Vritomartis" has been very popular here. Named after a Minoan goddess, it is located 170 km from Heraklion Airport. The hotel and bungalows here are built in the traditional Cretan style and are located at the foot of a hill descending to the Libyan Sea. Each has its own balcony or terrace. The main building houses a restaurant and a bar with a large hall and a veranda, where folklore evenings with national music and dances are held after dinner. The hotel's main beach, Filaki Beach, is 650 m away; you can get there at a leisurely pace in about 15 minutes, anticipating the enjoyment of sun and sea with a nice walk...
• In any case, with such a number of islands – and there are more than 1,400 in Greece – everyone can find a refuge for seclusion. Only about 230 Greek islands are inhabited, and only about eighty of them have a population of more than a hundred people.
Croatia
Croatia is undoubtedly the true world capital of nudism. The first example here was set by reigning persons: for instance, the British king Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne for love of the American Wallis Warfield Simpson, loved to swim naked in front of the astonished public together with his beloved on the beach of the island of Rab. In 1953, Croatia was the first to open its borders to so-called commercial naturist centers; until that time, naturism in Europe was practiced only in closed clubs. And even now, the Croatian Adriatic coast still holds first place in the world in the density of nudist beaches and resorts.
The Croatian peninsula of Istria is almost the center of world nudist tourism. At the mouth of the Lim Fjord, there is the resort "Koversada", which received its first nudists back in the early 1960s. It occupies an area of about 120 hectares, covered with pines, broom and olive trees, and 20,000 lovers of getting completely naked can relax here at the same time. A pedestrian bridge takes you to the island of Koversada, where you can have lunch in a restaurant in the shade of pines completely naked. Also here in Istria, 3 km from Rovinj and 80 km from Pula, is the international naturist resort "Monsena", where European naturists have gathered annually for the last 26 years.
There are also naturist centers in noisy tourist places: in Konave, not far from the Croatia hotel in the town of Cavtat, on the small island of Supetar, and also in Mlini on Baterina Beach. A wonderful sandy nudist beach is located on the island of Lopud, north of Dubrovnik. A few miles north of the town of Hvar are the Pakleni Islands, which are considered a very popular spot among nudists. Naked nature can also be found in Dalmatia, in the small town of Bol. There is the famous nudist beach Paklina, stretching for about 200 m. 200 m and no debauchery: most of Croatia's nudist beaches are geared toward family holidays.
France
Where else would you undress, if not in France? In principle, on French resorts you don't even need to look for nude beaches: liberated French people believe that people have the right to undress anywhere. But the resort Montalivet enjoys special fame here. It is located near Bordeaux, and is famous primarily for the fact that it was here in distant 1953 that semi-forbidden nudists from all over the world gathered and united into the International Naturist Federation, registered with UNESCO. Here, in Montalivet, the first naked international conference took place. So if you want to lie on a completely authentic beach that still bears the spirit of the struggle for the rights of the undressed, this is the place for you. The resort was founded in 1950, and still provides naturists with full protection from aggressive and uncomprehending "textilists" and absolute legality. On the coast of Gironde, the department where Montalivet is located, there are more than 1,800 campsites, 172 bungalows, shops, water and sports entertainment centers, and much more. But if surfing and massage can be found anywhere, such a friendly atmosphere for the naked is possible only here, in Montalivet.
Despite the fact that Montalivet is considered the cradle of French naturism, speaking about "natural recreation" in France, one cannot fail to mention the Euronat resort, which is located right there, in the Gironde department, about 80 kilometers northwest of Bordeaux. Euronat was opened in 1976 and has since had an established reputation as the calmest family resort for naturists. Unlike southern resorts, naturism at Euronat is mandatory throughout the entire territory. The residential area of the resort is divided into five "villages": Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. The cottages are scattered through the forest at a distance from each other, and an asphalt path leads to each of them.
But the most unique nudist resort in France is, of course, the "naked city" of Cap d'Agde in Languedoc. Located on the sunny coast of the French Mediterranean, Cap d'Agde is the largest nudist resort in the world. Here you can remain undressed from the day of arrival to the day of departure without "textile" pauses. The history of this city dates back to 1956, when a nudist campsite, Centre Helio-Marine, was opened on the beach. Now Cap d'Agde has its own shops, supermarkets, more than fifty restaurants, cafes and bars, four discos, its own police station, post office, bank, gas station, outpatient clinic and pharmacy, which makes the "naked city" completely autonomous and independent.
Spain
Spain is one of the most visited places not only for ordinary tourists, but also for nudists. Oddly enough, in this Catholic country there have been beaches for naked tourists for about 40 years. Particularly popular here is the nudist club-hotel "Vera Playa" in the northern part of Spain's southernmost province - Andalusia on the Costa Almeria, where next to the hotel on a three-kilometer nudist beach, nudist settlements have recently been springing up like mushrooms. You won't find more comfortable accommodation in all of nudist Europe, because "Vera Playa" is a real four-star hotel with service appropriate to this category.
Youth free of complexes flock to the popular beach Playa des Cavallet on the Balearic island of Ibiza. It is located 9.5 km from the island's capital of the same name, Ibiza Town; it is easy to get there by rented car or scheduled bus. The beach surprises with its lush tropical vegetation; it is located in one of the most attractive places on the island - in the protection zone for migratory birds and the natural reserve Ses Salines. The beach length: more than a kilometer in length and 30-40 m in width. The seabed is sandy with fragments of rocks, it is perfect for diving. Families usually don't come here, because Playa des Cavallet is not only a nudist beach, but also a favorite meeting and resting place for European gays.
If you are staying in the east of the island of Ibiza, it will be convenient for you to sunbathe on Aigues Blanques beach, 4 km from Sant Carles. It is also considered an official nudist beach on the island of Ibiza. You can also bare yourself without fear at Cala d`Espart. This is one of the least visited beaches on the east coast. Usually only guests of the elite settlement Roca Llisa and the summer residence of the famous guest of Ibiza, director Roman Polanski, bask here.
There are also a few more places in Spain for au naturel recreation not far from Barcelona and Valencia, in Catalonia, Andalusia, as well as on the Canaries, Costa del Sol and Costa Almeria. However, there the beaches are located on the territory of hotels, and the inhabitants of these hotels sunbathe there.
Jamaica
Do you prefer active recreation with lots of various entertainments and pleasures to lazy "lounging" on the beach? Then Jamaica is the place for you.
Jamaica is a concentration of conceivable and inconceivable pleasures, and most of them need to be experienced exclusively in the nude. The fact is that it is here that two unique resorts are located: Hedonism II in the town of Negril and Hedonism III on the diametrically opposite end of the island - in the Ocho Rios area. The names, as you can see, speak for themselves. The term "hedonism" was used to name his teaching by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristippus, who lived in the 5th century BC. The meaning of the teaching was that pleasure is the main value in a person's life, and the meaning of life was comprehended by obtaining all possible sensual pleasures.
The true pleasure center Hedonism II is situated on a magnificent beach an hour and a half's drive from Montego Bay. No one forcibly undresses anyone here: the resort is divided into "nude" and "chaste" sections with separate pools, volleyball courts and beaches. The hotel has a few rules and no restrictions: enjoy your freedom and do anything, anywhere, with anyone. It is especially convenient to do anything in one of the hotel's 280 rooms, each of which has air conditioning, bathtub and shower, king bed, CD player, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron. You can choose a room with a view of the garden, the regular beach, or the nudist beach. By the way, the local nude beach is a real attraction. It is literally called Au Naturel Beach, and features a pool, the famous transparent whirlpool, and a bar. Incidentally, the bar's walls are transparent and double as the side walls of the nudist pools. So you can sip a cocktail against a rather extravagant "visual sequence."
The main category of clients of both "Hedonisms" are Europeans and Americans, who are allowed here what they cannot do at home. For this reason, many of them abstain from spending during the year and save up, because a holiday here is not cheap; a week costs on average $2.300. Interestingly, women receive discounts at the hotel.
Many come here not so much to lie naked on the beach as to watch the famous local erotic shows and take part in quite frivolous contests. Usually, several themed parties take place during the week. For example, on Sunday everyone participates in the "battle of the sexes," on Monday women put on short flared skirts and go to the "70s-80s alumni reunion." On Tuesday there is a "party of intimate and bedroom stories," and you are supposed to dress in silk, latex and leather. On Wednesday it's "naughty games on the beach," where you needn't wear anything at all, as you understand. Thursday's theme is called "the excitement of Caesar," on Friday there is a "crazy hedonistic carnival," and on Saturday the main theme of the day is "tropical splendor." In general, as you can see, Hedonism is a paradise not just for nudists, but for unashamed nudists.
So, we have told you about places where nudity is welcome. But so that you do not inadvertently get into an unpleasant situation, we will also mention places where you must not undress under any circumstances.
In Egypt, India, Morocco, Malaysia, Israel, Japan, Tunisia and Indonesia, topless is allowed at most, and only on the grounds of closed hotels. It is strictly forbidden to bare your body in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Yemen and many other Muslim countries. For disobedience, you can be fined up to $2.000, jailed for a year, and even beaten with sticks. So you, a simple naturist, had better not go there – naked and happy people are not found there.
