After diploma recognition, our doctors can work independently in the Czech Republic
What diploma, characteristics, abilities, and talent must a doctor from Russia, Ukraine, and other former Soviet countries have to get permission to work in the Czech Republic? Let's ask general practitioner Victoria Dylenova, who holds a Russian diploma and is in the process of having it recognized.
– To have a medical diploma recognized, first of all, it is necessary to nostrify the diploma. The nostrification of the diploma is carried out either by the Ministry of Education or by a state institution – for example, Charles University, where we submit documents, and after a month or a month and a half, a document arrives stating that your diploma has been recognized and that our educational program, which we completed in the Russian Federation, corresponds to the educational program of graduates of Czech medical academies».
– Victoria, could you describe in detail, step by step, what authorities one has to go through?
– If the diploma is nostrified, we submit it to the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. After a month, an invitation for an exam arrives, which consists of several parts. The first part is a written test, the second is an oral interview. Then, upon successful completion of the test and the oral part, a five-month internship is required in accredited medical institutions».
– So after successfully completing all these stages, are you treated as a graduate of a Czech university?
– Yes, based on this document we have the right to work independently, without anyone's supervision. But in general, one could find a job without taking the exams, but then you would work under the supervision of a Czech doctor.
– Do you also need to take an exam in the Czech language?
– A Czech language certificate as such is not required, but Czech language is still necessary to pass the exam and complete the internship. This exam is held twice a year, in March and October. The number of attempts is unlimited, and you have the right to take the exam twice a year.
Actually, it should be added that doctors consider this exam difficult and very few people pass it successfully. Therefore, many doctors with a Russian diploma open private clinics, massage parlors, and aromatherapy salons, where a recognized medical diploma is not required.
