You can go to study in Germany without knowledge of the German language
As Deutsche Welle notes, such programs are offered by both universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) and universities. These are mainly master's programs, but there are also courses after which you can get a bachelor's degree. The range of academic fields is very wide: foreign philology, international relations, bioinformation technology, engineering, mechanical engineering, and many others. The list of specialties is dominated by management, economics, natural sciences, and engineering, but humanities students also have opportunities.
For example, in 1997, the University of Magdeburg was the first in Germany to include in its curriculum a specialty in economics taught entirely in English. Today, it has 16 English-language programs. Bachelor's students can study international business and economics, while future master's students can study, among others, such specialties as digital engineering, financial economics, international marketing and entrepreneurship, and integrative neuroscience.
The doors of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) are open to those who do not speak German but want to obtain a higher technical education in Germany. Such courses are available at the Faculty of Mathematics and Civil Engineering. But not only there.
At the Carl Benz School of Engineering, affiliated with the university, you can get a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Classes start once a year, in October. Students attend lectures and seminars in English, work in a design laboratory, and undergo internships at German enterprises, such as Bosch, BASF, and Siemens. Therefore, students here have good internship prospects. Moreover, graduates of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology are in high demand among German employers.
You can also study in English at the master's level at KIT's business school – the Hector School of Engineering and Management. It offers six English-language programs and welcomes young professionals with work experience who want to improve their qualifications and then take a leadership position in a company.
English-language instruction is also conducted at universities in Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Erlangen-Nuremberg, Bremen, Frankfurt an der Oder, Bonn, and other cities, as well as at some private business schools.
The requirements for applicants to English-language specialties are almost identical to those imposed by departments where instruction is conducted exclusively in German. The main thing is that when submitting documents, you must confirm your knowledge of English by presenting the results of a language test that meets international standards.
In addition, studying at such faculties often includes a semester abroad on exchange. University staff advise budgeting for several months of stay in another country and the associated expenses.
