Obtaining a visa to Germany at the embassy, especially a student visa, is not an easy process, fraught with nervous experiences, and you should prepare in advance for possible delays and troubles. Bureaucracy in the embassy is very high. There will be many attempts to find a reason for nitpicking, to ask to bring an additional document, or to redo something. After all, recently the consular services of many Western countries have quietly tightened the procedure for issuing visas to those who go to study.
It happens that a refusal can result from simple ignorance of the subtleties of the procedure itself or an error in the preparation of documents, which will be impossible to correct. Therefore, take getting a visa very seriously and start doing everything in advance, the earlier the better. In this matter, it is better to trust the specialists from educational agencies, who will not only help you correctly prepare the necessary documents but also prepare you for the interview at the embassy.
It is also necessary to correctly choose the type of visa. Student visas come in short-term and long-term. Short-term is issued for a period of up to three months if you are enrolling in language or professional courses. Obtaining such a visa is relatively easy. The passport specifies specific dates of entry and exit from the country, in accordance with your invitation from the educational institution.
Long-term visa is issued for a period of three months or more. Such visas can be single-entry or multiple-entry (so-called 'multivisas'). As a rule, a multivisa can be extended on the spot and provides a number of privileges (obtaining the right to work, entry and exit from the country during the visa validity, etc.), so the situation with obtaining it becomes significantly more complicated. Before obtaining such a visa, each student must provide a lot of documents that undergo thorough checks at the embassy and at the foreigners' office of the city where you will study. This procedure can drag on for quite a long time.
When applying for a long-term visa, you can receive the status of a student or a candidate for student. Students are considered applicants who have participated in the selection for admission to a higher or preparatory educational institution and already have access to classes or confirmation of participation in the selection.
If you are interested in obtaining an education at a German university, but have not yet taken tests for higher or preparatory educational institutions, you will have the status of a candidate for student.
To consider an application for a student visa, the following documents are required:
* foreign passport;
* civil passport;
* completed application forms in German;
* three photos (passport-style);
* health insurance;
* confirmation of financing of studies.
Currently, you can provide one of the following proofs of financial solvency:
* account with a German bank (amount at least 2,400 euros);
* guarantee from a German citizen (company).
The embassy sends your package of documents to Germany, to the foreigners' office of the federal state where your chosen educational institution is located. It is there that the decision on visa issuance will be made, and the German embassy is only the executor of their will. Initially, the visa is issued for three months and it also indicates which educational institution you will attend. After entering the country, you must register with the foreigners' office and obtain final permission to stay in the country.
The consular fee for this type of visa is 25 euros. Half of the amount is paid immediately upon submission of documents, and the remaining part upon receipt of the visa.
