A representative of the foreign ministry emphasized that thus Ukrainian citizens with valid foreign passports will be able to enter Croatia without visas and stay in the country for up to 90 days, as well as transit through its territory.
As RIA Novosti notes, the Croatian cabinet of ministers made this decision to increase revenues from the tourism industry. The same measure is being introduced for Russian citizens.
Tourism is one of the most important sources of revenue for Croatia's budget. According to official data, in 2008 the industry brought the state €7.5 billion (in 2007 - €6.75 billion). Last year the country received 9.4 million tourists from abroad, including 175 thousand from Russia and 31 thousand from Ukraine. The most frequent visitors to Croatia in recent years remain tourists from Germany - 1.5 million people by the end of 2008.
