For connoisseurs of this type of employment, there is a ranking of the most attractive destinations where the most favorable conditions for such work have been created. The list of best cities is compiled by the specialized freelancer site Nomad List, which evaluates cities around the world in terms of convenience for living and remote work.
The participating cities are evaluated according to 21 criteria, including the availability of free high-speed Wi-Fi, pleasant climate, general price level for housing, food, clothing and other consumer goods, level of safety, and the friendliness of local residents towards visitors. The cities are evaluated by site users.
The ranking includes more than a thousand cities from around the world, of which this year Budapest and Berlin took second and third place respectively. The honorable first place was awarded to the resort of Canggu in southern Bali.
According to data from another popular freelance exchange, PeoplePerHour, Berlin topped the list of best cities for living and working for 'digital nomads'. When evaluating cities, important factors such as the number of coworking spaces (places where 'free artists' can gather to work), rental costs, cost of living, and crime rate were taken into account. It is worth noting that most often Berlin was chosen for long-term stays by SMM managers, copywriters, designers, and web developers.
In addition to the German capital, which is now considered the best city for creative professionals and online entrepreneurs, freelancers from around the world often choose Stuttgart, Hamburg, and Frankfurt am Main.
Earlier, in one of the previous rankings of the most attractive cities for traveling freelancers, in 2016, Berlin was in 4th place, and the palm of primacy went to the city of Chiang Mai in Thailand. A year earlier, the first place in this ranking was taken by the Czech capital Prague.
