Financial Foundations of Overseas Travel

On a tourist trip, money should be enough not only for excursions, but also for health

In an unfamiliar country, with its climate often completely different from the country of departure, the health of a vacationer can play absolutely unpredictable tricks. And for medicine in foreign countries, even in seemingly not the most developed compared to Europe, such as Turkey and Egypt, you have to pay, and pay quite substantial sums.

Avoiding health problems is impossible; they can occur even in astronauts. But it is simply necessary to understand in advance that they may occur. This risk especially increases if during your vacation you engage in some extreme sport, for example, skiing, which will probably soon become available in the North Caucasus as well.

Taking a large sum of money with you is not the optimal solution to the problem. After all, they can simply be stolen. A more suitable option is traveler's checks or plastic cards. But in case of a serious injury and long, expensive treatment, even a large sum may not be enough. Therefore, the only reasonable way out is insurance.

Yes, now those traveling abroad are insured almost everywhere by default. For example, it is impossible to enter the Schengen countries without a valid insurance policy for at least thirty thousand dollars. In Turkey and Egypt, you can get by with an insurance amount of $15,000. But in both cases, this is the minimum level of coverage; the insurance may not even be enough for a single visit by a narrow specialist.

After all, it is worth remembering that the total insured sum is further subdivided internally into different types of insured events, so for a single individual event you can only use part of it. Therefore, so that, for example, a vacation in Greece does not end up ruined, it is necessary to pay attention not only to increasing the insured sum itself, but also to the risks that a particular insurance program offers. Say, very useful "options" are dental services (for acute pain) or payment for local lawyers in the event of problems with the police or a medical institution.
