Major seasonal sales are held in Europe at least twice a year
Seasonal signs on branded clothing and footwear stores have long become familiar: “SALE,” “Total Liquidation,” “Discounts,” and other tempting calls and slogans offering to buy items from the previous collection at reduced prices. Yes, indeed, in our country during this period you can purchase wardrobe items with discounts from 30% to 50%, which suits us completely. However, we cannot even dream of discounts of 70-90% that are available in Europe. In addition to seasonal sales, outlets and discount stores operating year-round offer items of favorite brands at reasonable prices in European capitals.
That is why our compatriots who have the opportunity to travel to Europe often go on tours during seasonal sales. There are two such periods: the Christmas sale (which starts in December and ends in mid-January) and the summer sale (which occurs at the end of May to the beginning of June).
During these two to three weeks, chaos reigns in large retail chain stores; many come at 4 a.m. to queue up and be the first to grab the treasured item they had long been eyeing from the rack. But it's not just cheap clothes and shoes that can be snapped up at this time. Stores offering parquet and ceramics, bicycles and cars, furniture and plumbing fixtures also hold sales. The all-knowing Internet will provide addresses where you can profitably purchase items and interior furnishings, but there are also classic shopping spots during the period of widespread SALE.
Paris is famous for the Champs-Élysées, where boutiques of the most famous brands line up in neat rows: Prada, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, and the like. Nearby on Boulevard Haussmann you can find economy-class brands popular among young people: Naf-Naf, Sela, Jenifer, Zara, where bright, shiny, and already inexpensive items can be bought in armfuls without worrying about your credit card balance.
London department stores Harrods and Liberty, packed for Christmas like gift boxes, offer visitors discounts up to 80% on everything in summer (June) – from loofahs to sports cars. Here you'll find a wide selection of items from favorite Japanese designers in Foggy Albion like Yamamoto, the rebellious Vivienne Westwood, and the practical queen of knitwear Sonia Rykiel.
Italian Milan and its suburbs invite you to visit their sale centers. In fact, even a month is not enough to visit all the fashionable shops in Italy, but special attention should still be paid to the area known as the 'Fashion Square.' Boutiques start working at 9 a.m., but you should arrive earlier, as by that time an impressive crowd gathers, attacking the fashion capital during sale periods.
Practical Germans go shopping in Düsseldorf; it is here that all stores of the most famous brands are concentrated. High-quality items from Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, and Versace are in particular demand. If you come alone, try to discreetly join the burghers doing their shopping. Then you will see how and what items you should buy so that they bring you joy for years.
