The stability of the euro currency has made it one of the most desirable among Ukrainians. A large number of residents and citizens of our country prefer to buy euros to accumulate their savings in this currency for a rainy day or for a large purchase. Despite the stability of the EUR, the monetary unit appeared quite recently, so we invite you to recall the history of its formation.
When did the euro currency appear?
Let us recall that more than 25 years ago, several European countries decided to unite into a single economically free space, which later became known as the European Union. Officially, the European Union began its development in 1992, but only ten years later did the member countries begin to use a single currency – the EUR. This long period of transition to a single monetary unit was necessary for the EU to resolve a number of related issues and fully implement the euro.

In 1999, all EU member countries began using the euro in non-cash payments.
36 months later, it was decided to launch the currency into cash circulation.
During the transition period, some countries were also allowed to use their own national monetary unit.
Individual euro conversion rates were set for all countries that were part of the European Union.
Starting in 2002, new participants joining the EU were required to switch to the single monetary unit within the first two weeks of the transition period. During this time, the use of their own money is allowed, but after 14 days, the euro becomes the sole currency in circulation.
Popularity of the euro currency
Today, the currency of the European Union is one of the main ones; many countries around the world conduct international financial transactions in it. It is represented on almost all exchanges and currency markets, which allows it to be sold in virtually all states. And exchange operations are carried out in all developed countries of the world, including Ukraine.
