European real estate is accessible not only to oligarchs

“Ukrainians buy real estate mainly in the south of Europe – Spain, Portugal, Italy. To a lesser extent, Bulgaria. They practically do not buy in Greece,” said Alexander Bondarenko, president of the international real estate federation.

He notes that recently, foreign housing is bought not only by the rich but also by representatives of small and medium businesses. After all, nowadays a decent house in some Schengen zone countries can be bought cheaper than an apartment in Kyiv. “For example, in Portugal you can buy an apartment near the ocean for 100-150 thousand euros. A cottage in a cottage community, about 250 square meters, with a large swimming pool,” says Bondarenko.

Attractive investments in foreign real estate are also offered by the Ukrainian branch of the company “TurkHome”. On the company’s website turkhome.com.ua you can choose real estate in Turkey from the developer, represented not only by apartments and houses but also by luxurious apartments in new residential complexes. Buying such real estate without intermediaries, and even with the possibility of interest-free lending, will be a profitable investment.

If you buy real estate in some EU countries, you can even get citizenship of that state. For example, in Latvia, a buyer of housing worth 70-100 thousand euros will immediately have a residence permit, which will transform into citizenship in five years. Also, foreign real estate can bring profit to the owner if it is rented out.

“In the West, people are used to money making money – somewhere around 8-10% per annum, that is very, very normal. That is, in ten years, this real estate will pay for itself,” notes the expert.

In Bulgaria, a square meter of a cottage on the seaside costs on average 1,000 euros, and in Cyprus – about 1,400. In Portugal, you will have to pay from 1,000 to 1,500 euros per square meter. Spain and Italy are more expensive – from 2,000 to 3,000 euros per square meter. The most expensive housing in Europe is in the capital of Great Britain – London. There, a square meter costs on average about 12-13 thousand euros.
