Watching the sunrise from Mount Pananjakan is truly fascinating. Proof of this is the fact that tourists sit facing east even before dawn, afraid of missing the moment: if the weather is cloudy, the sun will be barely visible. But when the sky is clear, you can see the sun gradually rise above the horizon and flood everything with light—Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and Mount Semeru, which is the highest point on Java.
While observing the sunrise, pay attention to the desert you crossed to reach Pananjakan. You will see a sea of sand covering an area of 10 square kilometers, arid areas completely covered with sand, or overgrown with sparse grasses.
To reach the foot of Mount Bromo, you can hire a cart, but if you feel up to it, you can walk there. However, remember: this walk is not a leisurely stroll, as the scorching sun and dust will not make your journey any easier.
When you reach the foot of the volcano, you can climb up and look into its crater. To do this, you have to climb two hundred and fifty steps. Once at the top, you can also appreciate the majestic view that opens up at an altitude of 2392 m.
