According to experts' forecasts, a decrease in the number of unemployed should not be expected until next year
Due to the crisis in the US, many companies began cutting costs, most often at the expense of personnel. Modest salaries, layoffs and other unpopular measures caused an increase in citizens not employed in production and offices. At the same time, almost all business sectors suffered, except perhaps the Internet managed to stay afloat. For example, contextual advertising of the site did not suffer colossal losses unlike other business areas.
The US Federal Reserve gives its forecasts. According to experts, only in 2010 a decline in unemployment is possible. Today, the average work week has decreased to a record low. In some companies, people go to work only 1-2 days a week. When the situation begins to improve, companies will not create new jobs, but simply make the work week longer. This will lead to the fact that the number of unemployed will not decrease immediately.
Today the data is as follows: every third unemployed person in the US lost their job about six months ago. This indicator horrifies many Americans and immigrants. Such a thing has not happened in the country's economy, at least in the last 60 years.
In other countries, the situation is better in some places, worse in others. For example, in the UK, the unemployment rate is about 8%. In the future, it will also increase, as in the US. However, overall indicators will not be as bad. Now English employers are doing everything to preserve jobs. They achieve this by cutting salaries and reducing the work week.
Such measures, by the way, are being taken across Europe. According to experts, the pre-crisis unemployment level will be reached in the UK no earlier than 2015. This applies to all sectors of the economy, except that advertising on the Internet suffered slightly less from the crisis and many people working in the web have preserved their incomes.
