Save on Vacation!

A collection of unnecessary trifles can be turned into a stunning weekend.

TAKEOUT FOOD

It's hard to deny yourself the pleasure of buying prepared food to avoid standing at the stove on weekends or after work. But if you don't indulge this weakness at least once a week for a year, you can fly to Florida for seven days. A week-long vacation in June 2016 with round-trip flights from London costs 820 pounds.

CLOTHING

You shouldn't completely give up updating your wardrobe, but if you cut the allocated budget at least in half and stick to it for a whole year, you can have a great vacation in a five-star hotel in Greece in May for just 245 pounds per person.

NIGHTCLUBS

After a stressful week, you could let loose at a club – dancing all night long while sipping cocktails. But if you skip the dance floor a few times – just lie on the couch or take a walk – you'll be able to save for a week-long vacation in Santorini in June, which costs 295 pounds per person.

BUSINESS LUNCH

Giving up your daily coffee with a sandwich during lunch break will give you the opportunity to take a trip to Italy. If you bring lunch from home Monday through Thursday, it will not only be healthy but will also turn Friday's business lunch into a little celebration, and most importantly, will allow you to save over a year for a vacation in Venice, costing 250 pounds.

SUBSCRIPTION ENTERTAINMENT

Britons are offered to celebrate the end of winter by canceling a subscription to an online cinema streaming series, or to a music streaming service — and instead buy a ticket to the annual electronic music festival Hideout in Croatia. A ticket to the musical celebration held on the seaside and accommodation will cost 244 pounds.

ALCOHOL

Half of the amount Britons spend annually on alcohol would be enough for a trip to Spain. Round-trip flight and a week's stay in Madrid in June would cost Britons just 201 pounds. It's hard to imagine where our compatriot could fly if they gave up even a quarter of their annual dose of spirits.

EATING OUT

The sun-drenched south of France is perfect for a vacation. If Britons skip half of their visits to cafes and restaurants over the course of a year – and they're in a four-star hotel in Nice for 203 pounds.

FITNESS

By replacing the gym with occasional outdoor runs, and group Pilates classes with intense home workouts, Britons can fly to Berlin in September for 52 pounds one way.

BEAUTY

If Britons reduce spending on beauty salon services, hairdressers, and buying tons of cosmetics, they can go on a 22-day tour of Europe, covering about 30 countries, for 359 pounds.

CINEMA

Going to the cinema is not a cheap pleasure. If a Briton went to the movies not once a week but once a month, and didn't always buy popcorn, they could spend a weekend in Amsterdam – the best place for watching cartoons. A one-way ticket would cost them 83 pounds.
