As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the said decision was taken by the German side exclusively for citizens of our state, taking into account the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated October 22, 2014 No. 1016-r "On processing long-term visas for entry into Ukraine for citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany."
Thus, Germany became the sixth EU member state after Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia (which also took the decision unilaterally), Slovakia, and Poland to support Kyiv's initiative to abolish visa fees for processing national visas valid for more than three months.
As noted by Ukraine's foreign policy agency, the practical implementation of the agreement with Germany on abolishing the fee for processing long-term visas will provide the Ukrainian side with additional arguments in the negotiation process with other EU countries regarding further liberalization of travel regimes for Ukrainian citizens to the EU. This decision is also important in the context of the visa-free dialogue with the EU and will accelerate the integration of our state into the common European space.
