128 countries remain "visa-free" for Ukrainians
As UNIAN notes in its publication, although Ukraine dropped from 38th to 41st place in the ranking over three months, this was only due to the movement of other countries. Ukrainian citizens can still visit a record 128 countries without a visa, whereas at the beginning of 2018, Ukrainians could travel visa-free to 114 countries.
At the same time, the most "mobile" passport is Japan's – its holders can visit 190 countries without a visa, a record for the index. Three months ago, Japan shared first place with Singapore, but the Japanese gained visa-free access to Myanmar, leaving Singapore in second place (189 countries with visa-free access).
Germany, which until recently was the constant leader of the index, is in third place (188 countries). South Korea and France have the same indicator. Fourth place is shared by Denmark, Italy, Spain, Finland, and Sweden.
Meanwhile, Russia ranks 47th in the index with visa-free access to 119 countries, Moldova is 46th (122 countries), and Belarus is 68th (77 countries).
The Henley & Partners Passport Index, formerly known as the Visa Restrictions Index, is an international ranking of countries by the level of travel freedom they provide to their citizens. The index has been published since 2006 in cooperation with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which maintains the world's largest database of travel information.
Note that in the recent Global Passport Power Rank 2018, the Ukrainian passport ranked 24th in terms of the range of opportunities it provides to its holder.
