In the sex education of refugees, a new step has been taken: now they have organized flirting courses for them.
As "Russian Germany" writes, the first step in this direction was taken back in spring. The Federal Center for Health Education (BzgA) in cooperation with the Belgian non-governmental organization Sensoa launched an internet portal where, in 13 languages, including Arabic, "diverse information on issues related to sexual health" was provided. The text was accompanied by pictures, compared to which the Kama Sutra is tame. Unsurprisingly, as German media wrote then, "the launch of this portal aroused a feeling of rage among many citizens."
The next step was taken by the German AIDS Relief Organization (DAH). They decided to provide all refugees with condoms free of charge. Here is how DAH Managing Director Silke Klumb explained this initiative: "While politicians are discussing how best to help refugees from war zones quickly adapt to peaceful life in Germany, the problem of sex is completely overlooked. How to provide refugees with housing, create a system of language courses for them, how to integrate them into the labor market as soon as possible – oh, these issues are discussed widely and publicly. But the issue of sex is hushed up, and this is explained by the fact that many refugees come from countries where this topic is taboo. DAH is very concerned about developing a network of educational events on sex education for refugees. And in this direction, we have taken a concrete step: we approached condom manufacturers with a request to donate part of their products to refugees. And almost immediately, four major manufacturers responded – Amor, Ecoaction, Billy Boy, and Holi Concept. We have already received from them and distributed to refugee reception centers across Germany 150,000 packs. The demand was enormous."
Now another step has been taken in the noble cause of sexual education of "people from a different culture" who are illiterate in this regard. In Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, the regional branch of the charitable organization Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) organized flirting courses for them (Flirtkurs für Flüchtlinge), where young men aged 16-18 are "taught to understand European women."
The course is taught by a well-known German Flirt-Coach (flirting trainer), founder and CEO of the media Flirt University (Flirtuniversity), 27-year-old Horst Wenzel. In his lectures, listeners learn, in particular, that "a smile does not automatically mean consent to a kiss, and an accidental touch means nothing at all." According to Wenzel, "the lecture series will facilitate the integration of refugees, because love and friendship are an important part of this process." To strike up friendships, Wenzel advises listeners to "go to a sports club" ("that's where your German peers go, and besides, it's good for health"), and to find love, install a dating app on their smartphones.
The first group of 30 Syrians, Iranians, and Afghans began classes in early September. Since they do not speak German, lectures and seminars are conducted with the help of translators into Arabic and Persian.
The start of classes was announced in the media and caused a storm of indignation among Germans. Many outraged responses came to the Flirt University website. Therefore, on the first school day (classes are held at the Essen Lore-Agnes-Haus, named after the associate of Clara Zetkin and Rosa Luxemburg – Lore Agnes), private security guards and police officers kept order. But the security measures turned out to be unnecessary – no one interfered with the listeners mastering the technique of flirting in the European way.
