New dance styles in schools attract more and more clients
The development of this market is quite spontaneous, but today a dance school in Kyiv can boast a wide variety of styles and directions. By the way, this is not only the case in Kyiv – across Ukraine there are more than ten thousand such institutions, and most of them are rapidly developing, constantly expanding their range of services and improving their programs.
The programs of today's studios include almost everything – from trendy Eastern dances to classics included in the program of sports ballroom competitions. Traditional schools are the most popular: the market sees the highest demand for training in Latin and ballroom dances. But it is worth noting that today fiery Latin has begun to lose its original classic form, that is, this type of dance is turning, so to speak, into a street version, which is more suitable for various parties and discos than for competitions and contests where the basis is performance technique.
Competition between dance schools is growing daily across Ukraine. But there are few truly professional leaders, while there are many more studios run by non-professionals and unprofessionally. For professional schools, it is becoming increasingly difficult to withstand competition from unscrupulous leaders, since even today there is simply no relevant legislation, and it is better to remain silent about the quality of their services. The goal pursued by newly created studios is to extract as much money as possible. There is neither good equipment nor qualified teachers. Studying in such a school for several months makes a person lose any desire to continue.
In attempts to occupy their niche among thousands of other studios, one or another dance school introduces a new direction. Market trends are shaped by demand, and demand is created by supply. Thus, ethnic dances: Irish, Indian, Arabic, and others are becoming more and more fashionable nowadays.
Such dance styles as swing, tap, sports ballroom dance, Argentine tango, etc., are also developing rapidly. But there are only a few ballet schools left in Ukraine. So far, few people perceive this direction as a business.
In addition, dance schools are helped to achieve a greater flow of clients not only by introducing new dance directions, but also by periodically changing specialization. However, only studios with a strong base of professionals and a well-known name can afford to change specialization – for example, the Kyiv dance school «Art Dance».
