In Northern France, four homeless Indians climbed into a car carrier trailer at night. The vagrants thought they were lucky: the truck trailer contained a brand new BMW 7-series. The homeless settled comfortably into the luxurious car and fell asleep.
How great was their surprise when in the morning, waking up from the bright sunlight, they saw police officers in British uniforms and helmets, no less astonished than themselves. It turned out that overnight the truck had carried the luxury car from France to London.
The following also became clear: a newly produced armored BMW 7-series was being transported from the factory in Munich to London for a customer. But the real shock for both the police and the illegal immigrants was the name of the person to whom the car was to be delivered: that person turned out to be former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
The Indians were immediately arrested right on the grounds of the police station where the car had been brought for registration. They are charged with illegally crossing the borders of the United Kingdom. The Indians, in turn, did not lose their nerve. For now they are behind bars, but according to British media, they plan to soon ask the government for residency in the UK, known for its liberalism on this issue.
Among the British, jokes about Tony Blair have already spread, that he 'got what he fought for.' Criticism towards him often touched on the issue of illegal immigration – allegedly Blair created too comfortable living conditions for newcomers in the kingdom. 'Now the ex-premier as an ordinary citizen is reaping the fruits of his own policy,' British journalists believe. 'Illegal migrants arrived in London in his own car.'
The car, for which the former head of government had already paid the Germans £100,000, was returned by the police to the official BMW dealer in the UK. The police, meanwhile, gave unflattering reviews of the 'vaunted security' of the armored vehicle. 'It is equipped with satellite security and navigation systems, but the electronics did not give a signal of intrusion,' the police reported. A BMW representative in connection with the incident stated: 'We are trying to cooperate with the police – an investigation is now underway into how this happened.'
British border guards are also baffled. 'This is simply a mockery of our border control points. We are no less shocked than the Indians that we could not detect them. After all, all vehicles entering the country are thoroughly checked,' a source in the British immigration service told The Daily Mail.
