Bulgaria is almost not abroad, almost a home country with white, almost Ukrainian cottages and storks on roofs, with almost Moldovan wine, almost Crimean peaches, almost Krasnodar cherries. A clear language, friendly attitude, warm sea, gentle sand, mountains on the horizon, flowers on the fence, a brisk wind smelling of pines. Everything is simple, homely, with an invariable smile.
Around Varna
Resort Bulgaria lies on the Black Sea coast from Varna to Burgas, from Golden Sands to Sunny Beach. It stretches in a long sandy ribbon, occasionally interrupted by rocky capes and coves. This ribbon begins 8 km from Varna. There lies the quiet village of Saints Constantine and Helena, where pine parks approach the sea, to the sandy beach, and this landscape is framed by mountains. There are many hotels from two to five stars at the resort, and kind-hearted grandmothers rent families houses with painted terraces. On the town beach there are yachts, water skis, surfboards, bicycles, banana boats, parachutes. In the evening discos, restaurants with variety shows and folklore programs open, there is even a casino.
Nearby, in a quiet bay, the small resort of Sunny Day is nestled. Its hotels offer balneotherapy programs – pleasant procedures with iodine-bromine or sea baths, oxygen cocktails, solariums, and quiet walks under the pines. The main health-promoting components are the mild climate, gentle sun, clean sea water, and air saturated with pine scent.
Golden Sands
One of the most famous Bulgarian resorts is Golden Sands, or in Bulgarian Zlatni Pyasatsi. It is located 18 km from Varna. Here the beach of fine quartz sand stretches for 3.5 km, and you can sunbathe from May to October. The climate is very comfortable – it never gets hotter than 27 degrees even in July, and the sea warms up to 25 degrees.
The resort is located in a protected area with mountains, forests, and mineral springs, so you can take good walks and even undergo treatment. Mineral water is drunk directly from the springs or bought in bottles. At Golden Sands, you can relax in any style: active, passive, family, and youth. There is an ethnographic complex with souvenir shops, many pools with mineral water. In the large seaside park, people ride bicycles and rollerblades, or even horses. The picturesque port with a marina for a hundred yachts invites you on sea excursions. Boats leave in the morning, afternoon, and at sunset, offering swimming, tours, and just relaxation with a view of the sea.
Also, at Golden Sands it is very convenient to relax with children: both on the beaches and in the seaside park there are children's playgrounds with pools, slides, and animators. There are many such playgrounds, and you can leave your offspring there until sunset. Also, everywhere there are many shops where you can buy clothes, strollers, toys, etc.
On the outskirts of Golden Sands lies Riviera. This is the name of a small quiet village, a satellite of the large resort. It is a very intimate and nice place: in a wonderful pine park there are several hotels and a few private houses. For entertainment, there are tennis courts, bowling, yachts, and a night bar with a disco.
Young Albena
The youngest resort in Bulgaria is called Albena. It was built in the 1960s with a claim to architectural avant-garde. In reality, it turned out to be a cluster of glass and concrete boxes competing with each other in height. Despite the unremarkable architecture, it is a very popular resort. First of all, it attracts with its beach: the coastal strip of Albena, a hundred meters wide of golden sand, is 2 km long. In terms of the number of entertainment options for children and adults, Albena is not inferior to Golden Sands. There is a yacht marina, water parks with slides and pools, children's play areas, bars and discos. Restaurants offer healthy and tasty Bulgarian dishes, as well as international cuisine. Prices are quite moderate.
Another well-known traditional Bulgarian resort is Sunny Beach. It is located on the shore of a large bay, and its hundred hotels stretch along the coast to the ancient town of Nessebar. Only 30 km separate Sunny Beach from Burgas. What can I say, Bulgaria is not a very big country.
