Czech Republic receives record number of tourists

The republic has never received so many foreign guests, notes Vinegret.cz. Moreover, the office's statistics only take into account those who stayed overnight in hotels, hostels and other hotel-type accommodation for at least one night.

The most popular destinations among foreigners were Prague (6.67 million guests), South Moravian Region (685,500) and Karlovy Vary Region (684,900).

In 2018, the republic was visited by 545,400 Russians. This is 0.5% less compared to the previous year. The number of nights they spent in the country decreased by 6.2% to 2.4 million.

The most frequent guests of the Czech Republic were Germans – 2.033 million people (up 3.6%), Slovaks – 734,900 (+7.8%), Chinese – 619,800 (+26.5%) and British – 496,800 (+5.7%) tourists.

In terms of overnight stays, citizens of Germany (5,850,918 nights), Russia (2,401,153) and Slovakia (1,459,858 nights) led.

As for the Czech capital, it can also boast a new record. In 2018, it was visited by 6,674,368 foreign travelers, which is 1.97% more compared to the previous year. The number of domestic tourists in the Czech Republic increased by 8.1% to 10,639,041 people.
