The first stage, under which 2,000 foreigners will receive a free plane ticket and a subsidy of €500, will cost the state treasury 60 million crowns (more than $2.5 million). According to «Radio Prague», during the first week, the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic registered 270 such applications, and 56 foreigners have already left the country.
According to opposition Minister of Interior, Social Democrat František Buban, the project will not solve the issue of illegal employment of foreigners, many of whom could earn money for their departure by performing community service. According to Buban, as soon as a Social Democrat becomes head of the Ministry of Interior, an Immigration Office will be established in the country, which will unite all institutions dealing with foreigners.
