In the Czech Republic, it has become fashionable to buy groceries in online stores
The largest online food store in the Czech Republic is Itesco. Currently, more than 200,000 customers from almost all major cities of the country are registered in it. The store's principle: not to sell people what its own employees would not buy. That is probably why Itesco has the largest selection of goods.
Another store is z-Market. It is designed for residents of the Czech capital. 80-150 Praguers buy various goods in it daily. Unlike iTesco, z-Market does not sell fresh meat, poultry, or fish. "People still do not trust that they will be as customers see them with their own eyes at the counters of butcher shops. They are afraid to buy. But our 'specialty' is vegetables and fruits. Among the best and cheapest in Prague," says David Zubek from z-Market.
So far in the Czech Republic, people most often buy online products that are heavy in weight and have a long shelf life: salt, flour, potatoes, canned goods, packages of mineral water and beer, pet food, and even laundry detergent. Firstly, there is a guarantee that the product is definitely not spoiled. Secondly, you don't have to strain yourself carrying heavy bags from the store. And thirdly, saving time. Place an order – and take care of household chores.
The most 'in-demand' days are Friday (afternoon) and Saturday (morning). This is understandable: people stock up on food for the entire weekend. On Fridays and Saturdays, as many as 45 employees of another online store – Kosik – pack and deliver the orders made by residents of Prague.
Several years ago, farmers' markets became popular in the Czech Republic. Home-grown Czech food, 'no chemicals', 'ecologically clean', straight from the garden or 'from the cow'. Businessmen thought and decided: why not sell farm products via the internet if they are so in demand? The Rohlik website specializes in supplying products from the best, recommended farmers across the country.
There are also specific online stores in the Czech Republic. For example, those specializing only in fish (the selection in supermarkets is not that large). There are also stores for emigrants. Vietnamese food, Russian products. Such sites also have many fans.
And how much does delivery cost? According to Radio Prague, from 99 crowns (3.6 euros) to 'delivered free'. But that is if the minimum order amount is at least 500 crowns (equivalent to 18.5 euros).
