According to data published by the office, in nine months 27,642 people arrived in the Czech Republic from abroad, while 15,062 residents left the country. Thus, the net external migration balance was positive and amounted to 12,580 people.
The largest difference between arrivals to the Czech Republic and foreigners leaving it was recorded among citizens of Slovakia (4,000 people), Ukraine (1,700) and Romania (1,100).
In the three quarters of this year, 85,448 children were born in the Czech Republic. Almost half of them (41,488) were born out of wedlock. The number of deaths during this period was 79,444 (5,011 fewer than a year earlier). The average age of deceased men was 72.2 years, women – 79.1 years. Thus, the natural population increase amounted to 6,004 residents.
As for marriages, their popularity in the Czech Republic has grown noticeably. From January to September, 43,400 couples officially formalized their relationships, which is 1,677 more than in the same period of 2015. At the same time, 68.9% of newlyweds were marrying for the first time. The number of divorces was 19,156, which is 26 more than a year earlier.
